How StreetWise Works

StreetWise is an 8 hour self defense training course. This comprehensive self-defense program is based on 5 key principles - Anticipation, Recognition, Negotiation, Evasion and Response. While most self-defense programs are teaching physical techniques, Mr. Mather created a principle-based system that enables the students to use their most powerful weapon - the mind. This enables our graduates - unlike those of most other self defense courses - to avoid trouble altogether rather than to simply be taught how to respond to it physically.

How StreetWise Works For You

You can use StreetWise - or any of the StreetWise modules - as a stand alone program to take out into the community, into the work place, or into the schools. Imagine the income you can generate from a single contract to provide self defense programs for any large corporate client's employee base.

You can use StreetWise as a method of drawing potential new students to your martial arts school. Host StreetWise workshops at your school, offer it as a community education program or to church groups. At graduation offer a discount at your martial arts school to train on a regular basis. Imagine how much income can be generated for each new student who joins your school after a StreetWise program and stays for a year, two years, three years.

You can train your top students to teach StreetWise and have them do the legwork of finding new markets for StreetWise in your city with you retaining a portion of the student fees. How StreetWise Works for the Students

Public polls have consistently found that the fear of violence is a top concern of most Americans today - and with good reason. The U. S. Department of Justice believes that five out of every six people in this country will become the victim of at least an attempted violent crime.

The famous Chinese general Sun Tzu, author of the classic The Art of War, said that the greatest general is not the one who can defeat 100 enemies in 100 battles.  Rather, it is the one who can control things so well that the need to fight never arises.  We agree.  Each of our courses utilizes our copyrighted Five-step Approach to Total Self Defense.  Although this approach emphasizes ways to prevent an assault from occurring in the first place, avoidance is not always possible.  So, we also supply our graduates with the self defense tools they should need to survive an assault with minimal injury.

One of the major flaws found in most self defense courses is a total absence of realism.  Good street fighters are effective because they possess the experience necessary to stay calm in an actual encounter.  Yet, students in most self defense courses learn their skills in totally non-threatening, non-realistic situations.  So, when the real thing arises, it is not surprising that many, if not most, freeze-up.

StreetWise is one of the only self defense programs to utilize a fully padded mock-assailant to simulate a real assault.  This allows our students to practice defending themselves in a realistic, yet safe and controlled, environment.
